SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 THE ARKANSAS CHAPTER'S WALK FOR RESEARCH!

Join us on September 17 to raise funds for research. We will be walking in the comfort of Hot Springs Mall, Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Registration will begin at 9:00am at the J.C. Penney Court.

We are asking for donations of any amount to help fund research for not only a cure, but better treatments until a cure can be found. All funds raised will be sent to research centers across the country by the American Parkinson Disease Association. Fill out a pledge sheet and bring the donations with you. A tee shirt will be given out for $25.00 or more in donations.

If your traveling, espcially flying, and have been questioned about your condition, while going through security, there are now identification cards that the Transportation Security Administration acknowledges that includes Parkinson Disease. Please refer to this letter from the National Office of the APDA

OUR MISSION

The Arkansas Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association is here to EDUCATE and ASSIST those in the state with Parkinson Disease. The APDA's motto of "To ease the burden and find a cure" is evident in the Arkansas Chapter's activities.
To that end, we sponsor and support 23 Support Groups throughout the state, and conduct 2 all day seminars each year, as well as in-service training for professionals.
This web site is to help those who are newly diagnosed find a local support group and more information on PD and the resources available to them. For those who already belong to a support group, hopefully this web site will help you stay better connected, know what's going on in our state, and learn new things about Parkinson Disease.

Visit your local support group. No group meets in your area? Contact us on how to start one. They're a great way to learn about the disease and how to manage it, and discuss what you've learned with others.
